    2. I am a night reader. So here's the problem, this book reads like you are watching the tour so you get all excited and pumped up for what happens next and instead of falling asleep you are thinking about how exciting the 1975 tour must have been. Even worse, it is essentially a year by year and blow by blow story so the only good stopping points are at the end of a years tour but then you can't help but read "just a little" into the next year and pretty soon you've been up all night. This book chr [...]

    3. Only cycling book I've read that clearly establishes, through simply recounting the events of each annual race, the omnipresence of systematic drug use in the peloton; a belief amongst so many that it is their right given what they asked to endure. Elsewhere, a good read and record of the highs and lows of this international sporting spectacle.

    4. Much has happened since this volume was finished in 2007. The author did point out the rise of doping, but could not have foreseen what has transpired since then. Still a fun read and one that all TdF fans should read. You may want to skip 1999-2005hard to stomach now.

    5. I have been a fan of Lance and the Tour de France for many years. I now have a different perspective into the accomplishments of the pro cycling peloton after reading Tyler's first-hand account of the culture. This book is very well written and reveals in detail how doping was able to thrive at the highest level of cycling, and remain so undetectable for so many years.

    6. Fantastic read, this is the second book I have read by the author Bill McGann and I love his style, it is personal, accurate and really well written. I could not put it down, if you are a cycling fan you will definitely want to read this book. Five star read, Highly Recommend this book as well as his first volume and the Story of the Giro.
