liked the character of Rayne, a dark and brooding teenage boy with a heartbreaking story He s a strong character and one that I found myself drawn to, as Alexandria was, and wondering what his story was and where it would take him This is such a great story of hope and second chances flag 4 likesLike see review Jun 23, 2018 M.J Labrooy rated it it was amazing Review from the author I wanted to delve into the mind of a runaway in my story, The Runaway House While I aimed to show the hopelessness some teens face whilst growing up, I also wanted the characters to find a way to transform their pain into power In doing this, they discover their self worth and realise they have something to offer back to the world The Runaway House is about fighting back and seeing the value of life It s about taking chances, despite the odds flag 3 likesLike see review Jun 09, 2018 Lori Allison rated it it was amazing The Runaway House is by turns a heart wrenching book and a feel good story The author sets each scene brilliantly, and I felt I was an invisible guest observing the characters as they interacted The runaways are so complex and human in their struggles, I found myself totally invested in seeing them through to their happy endings Great read flag 3 likesLike see review Aug 25, 2018 Bobbie rated it it was amazing Shelves favorite reads This is a really good book I like the pain and get past it to gain autonomy and power over your future life As the narrator explains, Perhaps she saw past the chronicles of fury to the person he kept sheltered behind them The author uses the premise that everyone has a story that others need to know for isn t it our stories who make us who we are Some of the twists in the story took me by surprise I really enjoyed it, check it out for building relationships with the other runaways What I loved most about this story is it really instills the value of not judging a book by its cover We all have our own stories to tell, its a matter of who do we have to listen to them Definitely a wonderful read, i think there is a part of the story that will resonate with everyone on some level Would recommend flag 2 likesLike see review Aug 23, quite a bit suspenseful than it actually was, of a suspense or thriller novel But I would classify it as just plain old YA fiction The good There are important messages of hope in this story that many teenagers may need to hear There are a wide range of topics covered, from bullying at school to drug usage and prostitution a wide spectrum of tough issues is discussed But hopefully a kid who needs to hear one of these stories will find strength and hope from it The bad The writing is oh so trite, expected, and saccharine There is far too much tied up in a nice bow resolution that is unrealistic, at best The dialogue makes a group of teenagers sound like they are narrating books and is extremely cheesy Also, hopefully future editions will fix this, but there seems to be a lack of basic understanding of punctuation that is pervasive to the point of distracting The confusing This novel is set in New England, USA perhaps suburban New York, outside of NYC somewhere Yet the British English spelling is used throughout, and I even noticed several British terms and phrases being used Is the author British American, but trying to masquerade as British It was confusing Overall I was nearly vomiting from corny predictability at every turn so much so that I had to force myself to keep reading If you can look past the bad and the confusing, there is a good message hidden inside flag
