    4. Loved the story. Saved at birth though orphaned. Happy human adoption subsequently. Laughs. Many gratifying moments. Then back to some sad and challenging times for Jennie and her family. Jennie, is the mischievous ape/chimp , playful, loving, intelligent, humanized animal who learns sign language. The confusion for this lovely creature as to whether she is human or an ape, accelerates as she ages. The ending was somewhat predictable as the story develops, and then again, it wasn't. [...]

    5. This book was deeply touching. It was warm and funny and ultimately heart breaking. It made me laugh and cry and I can see myself reading it again!I would abosolutely recommend this to a friend and aggressively try to convince people to read this book.

    6. Jennie was both an enjoyable read and a great insight into the similarities between ourselves and one of our closest genetic relatives, the chimpanzee. The book also raises the interesting moral question of whether or not it it acceptable to raise a chimpanzee as a human child. If I had one qualm it is this: though the story is a fictionalized rendering of actual events, I found it hard to know how much of Preston's story was based on hard reality, and how much if it was filled in by his wonderfu [...]

    7. Once again, Douglas Preston has shown us that he is an exceptional writer.Love made it possible to bring Jennie into a family home with love. The story had a very sad ending and, unfortunately, it proved that wild animals should not be treated as humans. They belong in the wild or in zoos where they can be appropriately taken care of as well as being treated with respect.

    8. This is fiction that rings with truthabout what it means to be human; we must look deeply into ourselves and question our attitudes and treatment of animalsese amazing other beings.
